How it works

What is included. A written offer, a prepaid insured Special Delivery label to us, and the trade value credited against the watch you are buying from us.

Turnaround. The offer within one working day of your enquiry. Inspection on the day your watch arrives.

Money. The credit is confirmed within 24 hours of inspection and applied to your new watch. If the watch arrives different from your description, we send a revised offer the same day or return it on our label at our cost.

What is included. A written offer valid for 7 days and a prepaid, insured Special Delivery label to us.

Turnaround. The offer within one working day of your enquiry. Inspection on the day your watch arrives.

Money. Payment by bank transfer within 24 hours of inspection. If the watch arrives different from your description, we send a revised offer the same day or return it on our label at our cost.

  • Commission on the sale price: 20% up to £499.99; 15% from £500 to £999.99; 12% from £1,000 to £2,499.99; 10% from £2,500 to £4,999.99; 8% from £5,000. The rate applies to the whole sale price.
  • Selling costs are deducted from your proceeds: about 3% if sold on our site, about 13% if sold on eBay. We tell you the channel before listing.
  • Minimum watch value £150, maximum agreed value £2,500. Independents only.

  5. Paid within 7 days of cleared funds (after the buyer's return window).

What is included. We sell on your behalf as disclosed agent. A written agreement is signed before the watch is sent. We photograph, list and handle the sale, and we tell you the channel before listing.

Window. 90 days. At the end of the window the watch is returned at our cost or re-priced by agreement. You can withdraw at any time before a sale is agreed. Early return is on our label at your cost, which is the Special Delivery fee. Return at the end of the 90 days is at ours.

Money. Payout by bank transfer within 7 days of cleared funds (after the buyer's return window), after commission and selling costs.

For anyone who wants a specific reference that we do not have in stock.

  • Target price agreed first.
  • 20% deposit, taken by Shopify draft order invoice and refunded if we have not found the piece within 30 days.
  • Balance due before dispatch.

What is included. We search for the reference you want at or below the target price we agree with you. We never buy above the agreed target without your written yes.

Turnaround. Up to 30 days of searching from the day the deposit is paid.

Money. The deposit is refunded if we have not found the piece within 30 days. Once we have bought the piece on your instruction, the deposit is not refundable. The balance is invoiced and is due before dispatch.

Trade-back for CWC buyers

For anyone who bought a watch from us in the last 12 months.

  • Any watch bought from us can be traded toward a piece of equal or higher value within 12 months.
  • Credit: 70% of the price you paid.

How it works

  2. Credit confirmed.
  3. Prepaid label.
  4. New watch dispatched on receipt.

What is included. A confirmed credit of 70% of the price you paid, a prepaid insured Special Delivery label to us, and your new watch dispatched on the day yours arrives.

Conditions. The watch comes back in unchanged condition against the photos we took before dispatch, with the box and papers it came with. Quote your order number, Shopify or eBay.

Money. The credit is applied to the new watch. Any balance is invoiced before dispatch.

Reseal and pressure test, battery included if quartz

For any watch that needs new seals and a pressure test, with a Swiss battery fitted if it is quartz.

  • £49, including a prepaid Special Delivery label to us and Special Delivery back.
  • One watch per order. Free within 12 months of buying a watch from CWC.
  • Declared value up to £750 is covered as standard. From £750 to £2,500 we add higher postal cover at no charge. Over £2,500 we decline for now.

How it works and the small print

How it works

  1. Buy.
  2. Label emailed within one working day.
  3. Returned with a written report within five working days of receipt.

What is included. A new case back gasket and a new crown O-ring where a standard size fits. Crystal seals are not replaced. If the test shows the crystal leaking, we tell you and quote separately. The watch is pressure tested dry, in bar, to the rating marked on the watch. A watch with no rating marked is tested to 3 bar. A Swiss battery is fitted if the watch is quartz. A written report is returned with the watch.

Turnaround. Five working days from receipt.

Warranty. 12 months on the battery and on our workmanship. The test result records the watch's condition on the day of service. It is not a guarantee against water getting in later.

If the watch fails. If it fails after new gaskets, it is returned with the report stating why and the fee stands. If we cannot open or service it safely, you get a full refund and the watch is returned on our label.

Free within 12 months of buying a watch from CWC. Use the enquiry form with your order number and we send a code that makes this service free at checkout.

How every service works

Liability

Watches with us are our responsibility up to the agreed value; in the post on our labels they carry Royal Mail Special Delivery cover to the declared value, up to £2,500; anything posted on your own label is at your risk.

Your right to cancel

You have 14 days to cancel under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, running from the day you enquire or order. Because we start work straight away, we ask for your consent to start now: on the enquiry form for part-exchange, selling, consignment, sourcing and trade-back, and on the product page for the reseal and pressure test. Work done before a cancellation is charged.
